SOUTH CAROLINA BAG TAG CHALLENGE
TAG RULES
1. Tags may be purchased through participating clubs for $10
each. Clubs will receive profits from the tags they sell as a fundraiser.
2. Tags may only be purchased or held by South Carolina Residents. (Accordingly,
they may not be wagered against other types of tags held by non-residents).
3. Tags must be displayed on bags at all times.
Challenge Rules
1. Any tag holder may challenge a tag holder with a lower number. If the
challenger wins the round, the tags are exchanged.
2. Challenges must be accepted in any organized tournament, including
non-sanctioned, fundraiser, or local tournaments.
3. Challenges may be refused in casual play.
4. The first challenge made shall have precedence; except that challenges on the
same card shall have precedence over challenges from a different card.
5. The holder of the lower number may, at his or her option, invoke the “Webb
Rule” prior to the round. This states that if the challenger loses, he will pay
the winner $0.25 per number based on the separation of their tag numbers, with a
minimum of $1.00. (For example, if tax #20 challenges tag #4 and loses, 20 - 4 =
16; 16 x $0.25 = $4.00 payment. If #20 wins, no payment is made.)
6. All challenges are to be one-on-one. Tags are not to be thrown into a pool
during an event.
7. Each participating club may hold one special, S.C. Tag-only event per year.
The format may be of the club’s choosing, but should provide a series of
one-on-one challenges. (Some suggestions include stroke or match play, bracketed
tournaments, scheduled matches of 9 or 18 holes, a day-long series of
challenges, etc. Use your imagination).
